Recruit into Coaching

Many clubs have been taking advantage of Sport England's Recruit into Coaching programme where Tyne and Wear Sport have funding available to finance Level 1 coaching qualifications.

The Recruit into Coaching programme aims to recruit 10,000 adult volunteers into coaching from 2008 to 2011.

The programme is being delivered jointly by Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust (YST).

If you are / or know someone who is aged 20 years or over, has an interest or involvement in community sport and wants to develop their skills and qualifications in sports coaching then please get in touch and we'll be happy to help you through the application. Contact Sport and Leisure on 0191 561 4697 or sports.leisure@sunderland.gov.uk

Andi Revell from AAASports has recently taken advantage of the scheme and said:

"Recruit into Coaching has been such a massive help to my club. We've managed to secure funding for one of our coaches to get their Level 1 Trampoline award and 3 coaches on their Cheerleading award as well as the Stunting Cheerleading award. This has allowed me to expand the club's activity offering trampolining and cheerleading to kids who previously had no provision - fantastic!"
