BBC ThrillSeeker

Sunderland City Council is working with partners and the BBC to deliver an action packed week of adventure activities.

From 2-11 April 2010 at various locations across the city people can try out activities such as climbing, paintballing, karting and fencing at special rates. The campaign, called BBC ThrillSeeker, aims to bring adventure and high adrenaline activities to those who wouldn't normally get a chance to experience them.

As part of the ThrillSeeker campaign we are working with partners to offer people the chance to go paintballing with Massive Attack, climbing and fencing with University of Sunderland and Northumbria Fencing, karting with Karting North East and skiing with Silksworth Ski Slope to name a few.

To check what activities are available near you check the pdf document BBC ThrillSeeker Event Finder.

The week will culminate in a Family Adventure Day on Saturday 10th April 2010 at Hetton Lyons Park. Families can try their hand at archery, rowing, canoeing and orienteering. Children's entertainers, with face painters will be on site to keep the little ones entertained too. The event will be free and all the family can join in.

Those who still have a need for adventure after all that can visit Sunderland's new outdoor and indoor Adventure Play Park, which opens to the public in April 2010.

This fully accessible Adventure Play Park will be part of the existing Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre.

A programme of exciting and challenging play activities is being developed and will include opportunities to climb, balance and slide at the Pit Track, cross the zip wire to dig in the sand, get lost in the maze, cook up a treat in the fire pit and much more.
