Background
A Community Sports Network (CSN) is an initiative developed to recognise leaders in sport for each community. It can improve communication between a number of partners and caters for the specific needs of the community. The role of a CSN is to enhance the delivery of sporting targets within the local community.
Active Sunderland (Sunderland's Community Sports Network) will involve all key organisations, agencies and individuals within the area. Active Sunderland will develop the local community's ability to make decisions, influence, change, and deliver Sport within the area.
High quality sport and physical activity has a lasting impact on every aspect of community life and impacts on the physical and social health of communities. The city's regional and national achievements in sport and physical activity give a sense of pride and character.
There has been significant citywide investment into sport and leisure facilities and more currently is underway.
Sunderland benefits from dedicated volunteers who give more and more of their time every year, to delivering the benefits of sport and physical activity to many individuals, neighbourhoods, clubs and schools.
The Active Sunderland website aims to bring together all partners ensuring sport and physical activity really does reach everyone in Sunderland.
