Big Fun Run and Big Bike Ride

On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th May, the city will host its biggest EVER running events, and the Sunderland BIG Mini Fun Run ensures that children from the age of 3 can be a part of this fantastic weekend.

With a focus on fun, family running, the BIG Mini Fun Run is a 1 mile fun run around Sunderland's Stadium of Light. Children between 3 and 7 years of age can take part in this event with an adult, and children between 8 and 10 years can run it by themselves if they wish. It's not a race…you can walk, jog, skip or run, and there is a medal for everyone at the finish line. If you wish, why not take part in fancy dress?!

The second Sunderland Big Bike Ride which will take place on Saturday 26th May and Sunday 27th May 2012!

The Sunderland Big Bike Ride has been developed since last year's event, and routes have been redesigned to provide a better cycling experience for all participants. This year the family ride will take place on Saturday 26th May at Herrington Country Park, and new, improved longer rides will take place on Sunday 27th May 2012 from University of Sunderland St Peters Campus. These changes will allow more people to take part in Sunderland biggest cycling event. Other changes include a new 14 mile route which is ideal for beginner cyclists and those who found last years 20 mile ride too challenging, or for families who found the last years family ride too easy.

The longest and most challenging route is the 35mile 'Tour de Sunderland'... It is shorter than last years ride but new tweaks mean it is just as challenging!
